Facebook Laughs
November 6th, 2008
I love how one can use Facebook as a springboard for drama. Here is my activity for the day:
McCain Supporter’s Status: …didn’t feel as though she could voice her views on obama because the receptionist was African American. Ugh. So it begins…
My comment: What a racist thing to say. Because you have made a skin color distinction, you have widened the racial divide. Nothing should stop you from voicing your opinion, this is a free country. But don’t be surprised when she voices her own opinion. I can’t believe you’ve even made a skin color distinction! That is not what this election was about. It was about voting the best man for the job. Not the white man, not the black man.
McCain Supporter Writes On My Wall: You don’t get it. SHE was giving me dirty looks and it felt like it was because of MY skin color. I do not care what color she was. I was offended that she seemed to be judging my non support of Obamas policies to be bc of his color ad opposed to the fact that I don’t support his policies. Does that make sense?
My Response: I can understand if you were having a political discussion–but the way you worded it sounded very racist.
McCain Supporter’s Response: It wasn’t racist. I was afraid of voicing MY opinion because of the way she was being and I’m the racist? Srsly.
My Response: Dearest, I didn’t say YOU, I said the way you worded your status. Pls read. Thx.
McCain Supporter’s Response: That was a hard thought to formulate and it would’ve been helpful to have had clarificaion questions asked prior to jumping to the conclusion that my statement was racist. Thx.
She then proceeded to remove me from her friends list immediately.
My status: …rolls eyes at [name withheld in case she sees this and sues me for discrimination]. Big time.
Pointing fingers at an African-American receptionist for making HER feel discriminated against. Yeah. That’s serious civil rights violation, right there. Someone alert CNN.

I was the receptionist and all I was trying to do was offer her a friendly glass of iced tea. She acted like it was poison. *just joking* :-)
